Snow Days

January was a rather calm month until the end. It started with a girls trip to New York City for me to celebrate our good friend Kelly's big birthday. I was really looking forward to posting some fabulous family ski vacation photos from Colorado. I am going to brag that we made it almost two years without having sick kids. I mean that's pretty good right? We finally let the kids out of the bubble and threw caution to the wind. We went to the play center at the gym, the church nursery, the pool, out to eat...we just went about our normal business doing the things we do as a family. Well, along the way we picked up the viral plague. Unfortunately it hit at a bad time and interfered with our ski vacation. Hope was the first to go down and the rest of us followed. Being responsible parents, we didn't think it was wise to travel to high altitude as a sick family. Well, God has a funny sense of humor because ultimately, he brought the snow, family and vacation days to us. My mother, my hero, came to help take care of sick kids so that John and I could take care of ourselves and get some much needed rest. After she arrived, we had a pretty good snow storm in Kansas City which resulted in me having 5 snow days.

A few lessons I've learned over the past couple of weeks:
1. With kids plans can change in an instant and the need to be flexible is critical.
2. Parenting sick twin toddlers while sick is just plain hard.
3. One never stops needing their mom.
4. Pinterest is a lifesaver on snow days.
