First Day of School

So many changes taking place at our house this week. We have been fortunate to have the kids at home with Jessy for the past two years. This year brings a new adventure for the kids....school. Monday they started early preschool at Primrose. While I had some anxiety about this new scenario, I know it's the right time and the right place for Hope and Jack. They were a bit teary when we left them in the new classroom on Monday. However, when we picked them up that evening they couldn't stop talking about it. We thought they'd be pooped, but they were not. That didn't come until day #2. They were in bed and quiet by 8:30 last night which hasn't happened all summer. This morning John woke groggy toddlers, fed them breakfast and helped me get them out the door. The thing is...I think they're on to us. Jack is starting to figure out this is going to happen every day. He wasn't so sure he wanted to go this morning and cried before, during and after the drop off. Poor kid! They will get used to the new routine, new faces and new experiences they will have each and every day. We're all growing and learning with this new chapter.

Lesson Learned on the 1st Day of School: Allow plenty of time for pictures before leaving. It's impossible to get two kids to look at the camera at the same time or really to get them to look at a camera at all. While these pictures do not show the kids sitting perfectly still for a shot, they do capture our circus and normal daily life. Gotta love it and embrace it.

When the kids were born, we planted a tree for each of them in our backyard.
Taking a picture by their tree seemed like a good tradition to start on the first day of school.
Well, Hope was more interested in holding her toothbrush.
Can we just get this over with so I can go to Primrose?
Hope is hiding her toothbrush behind her back (she refused to put it in her backpack).
Jack is focused on the camera saying "Silly Pickles!"
Please, can just one of you look at the camera?
Enough with the pictures, I'm ready to go!
A warm welcome on the window of our new classroom
We're all smiles after a fun first day!
Day #2: We are busy doing puzzles
The director emailed pics to let us know they were having fun
We're going to stick together for a little while yet.
